Updating by hand means a zip, an FTP client, and hoping nothing was missed. This module asks the licence server what is available, shows what has changed, and does it in one click using the licence key the site already has.
The important half is what happens first. Before a single file is replaced, a full backup — every table and the uploads folder — is taken and sent here, to the licence server. Most people do not take a backup before updating, however loudly they are told to; this one is taken for them.
So if an update goes wrong, or data is lost, or the site will not load, support has the backup from moments before the update and can send it straight back. Nobody has to have remembered anything.
The update itself never overwrites config.php, the uploads folder, or anything the site added, and it runs the database updater afterwards.
