Installation
On this page
An empty database, the package, your licence key and install.php - about five minutes. The installer checks the key with license.faruk.bd before it writes anything, so a wrong key never leaves half an installation behind.
Before you start
- Your licence key. It looks like
AIOV-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXand is in your account on license.faruk.bd. The installer will not finish without it. See The licence key. - A database. In cPanel open MySQL Databases: create a database, create a user with a strong password, and add the user to the database with All privileges. (Moving a PlayTube site into its own database needs none of this; see below.)
- A server that meets the Requirements.
1. Upload the files
Upload the AIO Video ZIP to the folder of your domain (usually public_html) with File Manager → Upload, then Extract it. The files must sit directly in that folder: public_html/index.php, not public_html/AIO-Video/index.php. Make sure the hidden file .htaccess came along (File Manager: Show hidden files), and that uploads/ is writable (755, or 775 on some hosts).
2. Run the installer
Open your site in the browser. Until it is installed, every page sends you to install.php.
Server check. Each line gets a green tick or an exclamation mark. A red one is required: fix it, then press Check again. An amber one is optional (FFmpeg + ffprobe, FTP, GD, mbstring) and can wait. Press Continue.
The form. It has these cards:
| Card | What to fill in |
|---|---|
| Starting point | A new site, or Move my PlayTube site here (next section) |
| Database | Host (localhost on most hosts), Port (3306), Database name, Database user, Database password |
| Website | Site address, with https:// when the site has a certificate and no slash at the end - it is also the domain the licence is tied to. Site name. |
| License | License key. Tick My host cannot verify SSL certificates only when the installer complains about a missing CA bundle (see The licence key). |
| Administrator | Username (3-30 letters, numbers, dots or underscores), E-mail, Password (at least 8 characters). This account owns the site. |
Press Install AIO Video. If something is wrong, the page lists it under That did not work: - nothing has been written yet, so correct it and send the form again.
All done. The last page shows the website, the administrator, the licence package and who it is licensed to. Open the admin panel signs this browser straight in, once, within twenty minutes. After that, sign in at /login.
Moving a PlayTube site here
Choose Move my PlayTube site here under Starting point. Members, videos, comments, playlists, views and pages come across, and every old address keeps working. PlayTube itself is only read, never changed. Tell the installer where PlayTube is:
- PlayTube is on this server - the installer looks for PlayTube's
config.phpin this folder and the folders around it and lists what it found, so there is nothing to type. Tick Install into PlayTube's own database to put AIO Video'saio_tables beside PlayTube's (they touch none of them); the Database card then folds away. PlayTube in a folder it did not find? Type the folder under PlayTube is in another folder and press Look there. - I will type its database details - host, port, name, user and password from PlayTube's
config.php. A database on another server must allow this one in (cPanel: Remote MySQL). - I have a backup file (.sql) to upload - install first; the PlayTube Migration plugin then takes the backup, whatever its size.
Two more fields: The old site's address (leave it as it is when the domain stays the same), and Keep my PlayTube administrator account, which lets you sign in with your PlayTube username and password and folds the Administrator card away.
The button now reads Install AIO Video and move my site. When PlayTube lived in this same folder, its config.php is kept as config.playtube.php and its upload folder stays where it is.
On the last page, Start moving my PlayTube site opens the move (it starts by itself after eight seconds; Not now - visit the site skips it). With the backup choice you get Open PlayTube Migration instead. The move itself is explained in PlayTube Migration.
What the installer writes
config.php- the database details (DB_HOST,DB_PORT,DB_NAME,DB_USER,DB_PASS), the site address (SITE_URL), a random secret (AIO_SECRET),AIO_DEBUGset tofalse, andAIO_LICENSE_INSECURE_SSL.- The tables from
database/schema.sql, all starting withaio_. - Starting settings: your site name and e-mail, a dark public site with a light admin panel, clean addresses on, uploads up to 512 MB, and the rest of the defaults.
- Something to begin with: 17 video categories (Film & Animation, Music, Sports, Gaming and so on), the blog categories News, Guides and Updates, and four pages in the footer - About us, Terms of use, Privacy policy and Contact - with placeholder text for you to replace.
- Your administrator account and the licence record.
- Folders
uploads/videos,uploads/thumbs,uploads/avatarsanduploads/covers. installed.lock, last of all. From then oninstall.phpdoes nothing but send visitors to the home page.
After the install
- Delete
install.php. It cannot run again whileinstalled.lockexists, but removing it is tidier, and Admin → System status reminds you until you do. - Never delete
installed.lock. Without it every page sends visitors to the installer. - Protect
config.php. Set it to 644 and never share it: it holds the database password and the secret the site signs with. The.htaccessin the package already refuses to serve it to a browser. - Add the cron line, one line every minute: Scheduled jobs.
- Make the first settings: The admin panel.
Leave AIO_DEBUG at false on a live site. Set it to true only for a short while when you are chasing an error, because it prints PHP's messages on the page.
