Getting started

The licence key

On this page

One key runs one site. It comes from license.faruk.bd, where you also find your downloads, your plugins and your support tickets.

Getting and entering the key

  1. Register on license.faruk.bd and buy an AIO Video package.
  2. Open My Licenses. The key looks like AIOV-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.
  3. Enter it in the installer's License card. The installer will not finish without a key that the License Center accepts.

On an installed site the key lives on Admin → License. To enter another one, paste it into Use a different key (or Activate this installation when there is none) and press Activate.

The key is tied to the domain of your site address, the SITE_URL in config.php. A leading www. is ignored, so www.example.com and example.com are the same site.

The License page

Admin → License shows:

  • Current state (see the table below), License key, Domain, Package, Licensed to, Expires (never for a lifetime licence), Last checked, and Addons - the plugin codes your licence includes.
  • Any message the License Center has for you, under the table.
  • Check again now asks the License Center at once.
  • Release this domain frees the key for another site.
  • Open the License Center takes you to license.faruk.bd.
  • A Support card with the support e-mail, the website and the address for opening a ticket.

What the states mean

StateMeaning
ActiveThe key is valid for this domain.
Active (offline grace period)The License Center has put the licence in its grace period. Everything works.
ExpiredThe paid period is over, or no check got through for longer than the grace period (below). Renew, or let a check through, then press Check again now.
SuspendedThe licence is on hold. Write to support.
RevokedThe key has been withdrawn.
Not validThe key was mistyped, or was never issued for AIO Video.
Registered to another domainThe key is active on a different site. Release it there first.
Not activatedNo key has been entered.

When the licence is not in order

Only the admin panel is held back. Every panel page then shows License required with the reason and a button, Activate this installation. Admin → License itself always stays open, so you can always put things right.

The public site, your members, their uploads and the scheduled jobs carry on as normal, and visitors never see a licence message. While the licence needs attention, the bell in the admin panel says so.

How the site checks

  • Every 12 hours, through the License check job on Admin → Cron jobs (see Scheduled jobs).
  • When an administrator opens a panel page and the last check is older than that.
  • Whenever you press Check again now.

A check sends the product code, the key, the domain and address of the site, the server's IP address, an installation id, the version of AIO Video and the PHP version. Nothing about your members or your videos.

When the License Center cannot be reached

Each successful check opens a grace window: the number of days the License Center sends with its answer, seven when it sends none. A network hiccup or a busy server changes nothing while that window is open; the site keeps working on its last good answer and tries again at the next check.

If no check gets through before the window ends, the state turns Expired and the panel is held back until one does. The usual cause is a server that may not make outgoing https calls. Ask the host to allow connections to license.faruk.bd, then press Check again now.

Premium plugins

Some plugins are sold on license.faruk.bd as premium addons (Live, Advertising & Monetization, Shorts and Mobile API). To use one, make sure your licence includes it:

  1. Buy the plugin on license.faruk.bd.
  2. Press Check again now on Admin → License. Its code appears in the Addons row.
  3. Switch the plugin on at Admin → Plugins.

A plugin that is marked premium on its card, while its addon is missing from the licence, says This is a premium plugin. Your license does not include it and its Switch on button stays grey. A premium plugin that was already on and whose addon is not on the licence shows a yellow Needs license instead of On: it does not run - its pages, its menu entries and what it adds to the site stay away - until the addon arrives and Check again now brings it; nothing has to be switched on again. Live is sold as live-streaming; a licence that names it live works too. Free plugins work with every licence.

Moving to another domain

  1. On the old site, press Release this domain on Admin → License. The key is free again. If the old site is already gone, sign in to license.faruk.bd, open My Licenses and press Release this domain beside the old domain.
  2. Move the files and the database, then change SITE_URL in config.php to the new address (no slash at the end).
  3. On the new site, open Admin → License, paste the key and press Activate.

Between steps 1 and 3 the panel shows License required; the public site keeps working.

Servers without a CA bundle

Some shared hosts have no list of certificate authorities, so PHP cannot check any https certificate and every licence call fails with unable to get local issuer certificate. AIO Video recognises this and says so plainly instead of failing quietly.

  • The right fix: ask the host to set curl.cainfo in php.ini.
  • Until then: tick My host cannot verify SSL certificates in the installer, or on an installed site edit this line in config.php yourself:
define('AIO_LICENSE_INSECURE_SSL', true);

With it on, a licence call that fails for exactly that reason is tried again without the certificate check. A few other outgoing calls of the site (Cloudflare, country look-ups, payment providers) follow the same switch. Set it back to false as soon as the host has fixed the server.

The credit line at the foot of the admin panel comes with your licence. When the licence sets the site's footer line too, Admin → Settings → General says Your license sets this line under Footer line. The credit on the public site is explained in Themes.
