Pages

On this page

The Pages plugin gives brands, businesses, creators and causes a public home on your site. People Like a page to follow it, and its posts appear in their feeds with the page as the author.

What members get

  • Discover at /pages (also in the side menu): pages they run, pages they like, suggestions and the most liked pages, with a search box and a category filter. Your pages and Liked list all of them.
  • Create → Page, or /pages/create: a name, an address, a category, a short description and a website. The address is made from the name when it is left empty and becomes /pages/<address>. The creator likes the page at once and lands on its settings to add a picture and a cover.
  • The page itself, with the tabs Posts, About, Photos, Videos, Reviews and Followers:
    • a cover and a picture, the category, the number of likes and the average of the stars;
    • an Intro card with the website, phone, e-mail, address, opening hours, social links and the month the page was created;
    • Like, Message (opens a chat with the page owner when the Messenger plugin is on) and the page's own action button, such as Shop now or Book now;
    • Invite friends, Copy link and Report page in the ⋯ menu.
  • Posting as the page: the team sees a box Post as … on the page. Those posts show the page's name and picture, with a small posted by line for the person who wrote them. They are always public and reach the feed of everyone who likes the page.
  • Reviews: one review per member, 1 to 5 stars and a few words, which they can change or remove later. The page team cannot review its own page.
  • Insights for the page admins: total likes, new likes in the last 14 days with a bar chart, posts, reach (post views), views this week, reactions, comments, shares, the rating, and the five best posts.

Pages also appear in the site search under a Pages tab, in the search suggestions, and in the sitemap.

The page team

Settings → Team on the page. The owner adds members by username and gives each a role:

RoleCan
OwnerEverything, and is the only one who can delete the page.
AdminChange the details, pictures, button and team; see Insights; post as the page.
EditorPost as the page, and edit or delete the page's posts.
ModeratorRemove posts and comments on the page.

The person added gets a notification. Site admins can manage every page as if they were its owner.

Page settings

The settings of a page have five sections:

  • General: name, address, category, short description (shown under the name and in search), a long About text, website, e-mail, phone, hours (for example Sat-Thu 10:00-20:00), address, and links to Facebook, Twitter / X, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, WhatsApp and Telegram. The old address stops working the moment you change it, so change it early and tell people the new one.
  • Picture and cover: a square picture, a wide cover and the cover position (a slider from 0 to 100%). Both can also be changed straight from the page with the camera buttons.
  • Action button: a text (Shop now, Book now, Contact us, Call now, WhatsApp, Order food, Donate and others, or your own) and a link. Leave both empty to remove the button.
  • Team: see above.
  • Delete page: the owner only. It removes the page with its posts, likes and reviews and cannot be undone.

Settings for the whole site

Admin → Plugin pages → Page settings.

  • Who can create a page: Every member, Verified members only, Pro members only or Admins only.
  • Pages a member may own (0 = no limit): 10 by default.
  • New pages need approval: a new page waits, visible only to its owner and admins, until you approve it.
  • Members can review pages: off removes the Reviews tab.
  • Categories: 15 ready-made (General, Business, Brand, Community, Entertainment, Education, Shop, Sports, Technology, Travel, Health, Food, Music, Art, News). Rename them, change their icon (a name from the icon set, such as flag, briefcase, music), change the order or add your own. Deleting a category moves its pages into the first one.

A member can create at most five pages an hour.

Looking after pages

Admin → Plugin pages → Pages lists every page with its owner, category, likes, posts, status and age, with the tabs All, Pending and Hidden and a search box.

  • Approve opens a pending page. The owner is told.
  • Hide takes a page off the site: it disappears for everyone except its owner and admins, and its posts leave every feed. The owner is told. Unhide brings it back.
  • Verify adds the blue badge beside the page name, on the page, in search and on every post of the page. Press it again to remove it.
  • Delete removes the page with all its posts.

Members can report a page from its ⋯ menu; reports arrive on Admin → Reports.

Coming from WoWonder

When the WoWonder Migration plugin runs, the Pages step brings over every WoWonder page with its picture, cover, category, contact details, social links, likes, admins (as Admin), ratings and verified badge, and gives the old page posts back to their page. Hidden pages stay hidden. See Moving from WoWonder.

Tips

  • Turn on New pages need approval on a new site: it keeps brand names from being taken by people who do not own them.
  • Give a business page an action button from the first day. It is the most used button on a page after Like.
