Getting started

New installation

On this page

An empty database, the package, /install.php: about five minutes. Have your licence key (AIOD-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) at hand, because the installer checks it before it writes anything. See The licence key.

1. Create the database

In cPanel open MySQL Databases: create a database, create a user with a strong password, and add the user to the database with All privileges. Write down the three names; the installer asks for them.

2. Upload the files

The package AIO-Downloader-v1.7.0.zip holds one folder, aio-downloader. Upload the ZIP to the folder of your domain (usually public_html) with File Manager → Upload, Extract it, and move the contents of aio-downloader up one level. The files must sit directly in the folder of the site: public_html/index.php, not public_html/aio-downloader/index.php.

For a sub domain use the folder of the sub domain; for a sub folder (example.com/download) put the files into that folder. Nothing has to be edited for either.

Check that .htaccess came along (switch on Show hidden files in the File Manager). On Nginx use nginx.conf.example instead; see Requirements.

3. Run the installer

Open https://your-site/install.php. (Any other address of a site that is not installed yet leads there by itself.) A bar at the top shows the five steps: Server, Database, License, Site & admin, Done.

  1. Server requirements. Every line must be green before Continue appears. A red cross tells you what to switch on or which folder to make writable; fix it and press Check again. Orange marks (zip, gd, fileinfo) are optional.
  2. Database. Fill in Host, Port (3306), Database name, Table prefix (aiod_), User and Password, then press Connect. The installer suggests 127.0.0.1 as the host; when your host names another one, or the answer is Could not connect: … Access denied, try localhost.
  3. License. Paste your key into License key and press Check the key. It is checked with license.faruk.bd and tied to the host shown under the field (This site: …). No key yet? The link Get a license opens the License Center. Tick This server cannot check certificates (no CA bundle) only when the check fails with a certificate error.
  4. Site & admin account. A green line confirms the licence (License accepted, with your package and name). Fill in Site name, Your name, Admin e-mail and Admin password (at least 8 characters). Site URL is detected automatically; leave it as it is. Press Install.
  5. Installed. The tables are made, the languages, pages, menus and platforms are filled in, and config.php and installed.lock are written. The page lists what to do next and has the buttons Admin panel and View site.

When the admin e-mail already has an account in that database (you install again over an old database), the account is kept and gets the new password.

4. Delete install.php

The installer will not run a second time: it only says Already installed. Delete it all the same. Admin → System check has a Delete install.php button; FTP or the File Manager do the same. The Security box on System check then shows install.php removed.

To install from scratch on purpose, delete installed.lock and upload install.php again.

5. The admin panel

The panel lives at https://your-site/admin (in a sub folder: https://your-site/folder/admin). Sign in with the admin e-mail and password from step 4.

You can move it: Settings → Advanced → Admin panel path, for example manage-7f3a. Letters, digits, - and _ are allowed; api, download, embed and blog are taken by the site and fall back to admin. Bookmark the new address after saving. Where visitors see a sign-in link is set under Settings → Appearance → Admin login link on the site.

Keep config.php to yourself: it holds the database password and the secret that signs sessions.

6. Add the cron job

The site has work to do in the background: old links, the cache, the licence check, the proxy pool, yt-dlp, updates. Add one cron job that runs every ten minutes.

Admin → System check shows the exact line for your server in the box Cron job, with the full path of the right PHP. It looks like this:

*/10 * * * * /path/to/php /home/USER/public_html/cron.php >/dev/null 2>&1

In cPanel (Advanced → Cron Jobs) choose Once Per Ten Minutes and paste only the command after the five time fields. Then press Test the cron line on System check. Until a cron job arrives, the site runs its tasks from the pages people open. Everything about it: Scheduled jobs.

7. First things to check

  • Admin → System check. Every box green: PHP, extensions, folders, scheduled tasks, security, database. The Security box also suggests HTTPS, a Custom admin path and a CAPTCHA.
  • The dashboard. Its checklist names the first jobs: Give your site a name, Upload a logo, Protect the form with CAPTCHA, Set up the cron job, Delete install.php.
  • Settings → E-mail. Choose how mail is sent and press Save and send a test e-mail.
  • Settings → Advertising. A new site shows demo ads in the ad positions. Put your own in, or remove them with one button.
  • Platforms → Test a link. Paste a YouTube link and see the formats it finds. When YouTube refuses the server, read YouTube and yt-dlp.
  • The yt-dlp page (under Downloads). One button installs yt-dlp, which private YouTube videos need.

A tour of the panel is in The admin panel, every setting in Settings, tab by tab.
