The licence key
On this page
AIO Downloader is licensed per domain by the License Center at license.faruk.bd, where you also find your downloads, the updates and your support tickets. The product code there is aio-downloader.
Getting a key
- Register on license.faruk.bd and buy an AIO Downloader package.
- Open My Licenses in your account. The key looks like
AIOD-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. - Enter it in step 3 of the installer, or later on Admin → License.
The key is tied to the host name of the site: www.example.com and example.com are the same site, a sub domain is a site of its own, and a site in a sub folder counts by its host. A package may allow more than one site; the License page then says up to n sites beside the package.
Activating
The installer checks the key with the License Center before it writes anything, so a new site is licensed from its first minute.
On a running site, Admin → License shows the box Activate this installation (or Activate again when a key is stored but no longer in order). Paste the key into License key and press Activate. The line below the field says where it is checked and which host it is tied to. Get a license opens the License Center.
The License page
Admin → License shows the status as a coloured badge and a Details table: Status, License key (with its middle hidden), Domain, Package, Licensed to, Issued, Expires (Never (lifetime) for a lifetime licence), Last check, Plugins & themes and Version.
- Check now asks the License Center at once.
- Release this domain frees the key for another site (see below).
- The Support box has the contacts the License Center sends with your licence and the link Open a support ticket.
Messages the License Center has for you (a renewal that is due, news) appear above the details.
What the status words mean
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Active | The licence is in order. |
| Active (offline grace period) | The License Center has not answered for a few days. Everything keeps working; press Check now to try again. |
| Expired | The paid period ended, or the License Center could not be reached for longer than the grace period. Renew on license.faruk.bd, then press Check now. |
| Suspended | The licence is on hold. Write to support. |
| Revoked | The licence was withdrawn. |
| Not valid | The key was mistyped, belongs to another product, or is not active yet. |
| Registered to another domain | The key is active on another site. Release it there first, or activate it here again. |
| Not activated | There is no key on this installation (a new site, or after Release this domain). |
Re-checks and the grace period
The site asks the License Center twice a day: through the cron job, or when you open the admin panel and the last check is more than twelve hours old. A check sends the key, the domain and address of the site, the server's IP address, an installation id, the version of the script and the PHP version. Nothing about your visitors or their downloads is sent.
When the License Center cannot be reached, nothing stops:
- for the first three days the status stays Active;
- after that it reads Active (offline grace period);
- when the grace period has passed since the last good answer, it reads Expired. The License Center sets its length with every answer (seven days when it names none).
One good answer puts everything back to Active.
Should the License Center ever say the key belongs to another domain although it was activated on this very domain, the site activates it once more by itself (at most once a month), so a mistake there does not lock you out.
When the licence is not in order
The admin panel shows one menu entry only, License. Every other page leads there, with the note The admin panel is locked until the license is in order, the reason, and what the License Center said. Your profile still opens. Updates and System check stay closed until the licence is fixed; the logs can still be read by FTP in storage/logs/.
The public site keeps working. Visitors notice nothing and can download as before. Free plugins keep running; a premium plugin stops until the licence is in order again.
Moving to another domain
- On the old site press Release this domain on Admin → License and confirm. The answer is This domain has been released. The key can now be activated on another site. The old panel locks itself.
- On the new site activate the key in the installer or on Admin → License.
If the old site could not reach the License Center, the key is removed there anyway but stays registered at the License Center; the message says so. Release the domain from your account on license.faruk.bd (My Licenses → Release this domain) or ask support. The same applies when the old site is gone already.
A site whose files and database were copied to a new domain without releasing shows Registered to another domain until you do.
Plugins, themes and the licence
The nine plugins and the themes Nova and Midnight that come with the script are free and work with every licence; themes need no key at all. A plugin marked as premium ("tier": "premium" in its plugin.json) runs only when your licence includes it. Admin → Plugins then says Your licence does not include this premium plugin yet. Add it on license.faruk.bd and press Check now; the row Plugins & themes on the License page lists what your licence includes.
The footer credit
The Designed & Developed by line at the foot of every page is sent by the License Center with your licence (set there under Footer & branding); without one the faruk.bd credit is shown. Settings → Appearance → Footer credit shows the line in use.
When your package lets you change it, the field Your own footer credit (HTML) appears below that line. {site_name}, {site_url} and {year} are filled in for you; an empty field follows the licence again. While the licence keeps the credit, or is not in order, the line from the licence is shown.
The old product code
Up to version 1.1.0 the script was licensed as aio-video-downloader. When the License Center does not know a key under the new code, the site asks once more under the old one, so a key bought for an older version keeps working.
