Pages, blog and menus
Everything under Admin → Content. A page, a post, a category and a tag are written once per language: the edit screen has a tab for every active language. The default language needs a title; the other tabs are optional, and an empty one shows the default language version. See Languages and translations.
The addresses below are shown with the language in front (/en/…); Language in the address may shorten them.
Pages
Two types:
- Page — About, Contact, Privacy policy, Terms of service and DMCA come with the script, in English and Bengali. Address:
/en/about. Show the download form puts the download box above the text. - Landing page (with download form) — the page of one platform: the title as headline, the SEO description under it, the download box, your text, the "How to download" steps and the platforms. 68 come with the script in all ten languages, such as
/en/youtube-video-downloader.
The settings of a page:
- Identifier — the internal key. A platform's tile on the home page leads to the page whose identifier is chosen as Landing page under Downloads → Platforms;
youtubeis the YouTube page. - Type, Sort order, Published, Show the download form.
Per language: Title, URL slug (empty: made from the title), Content, SEO title, SEO keywords, SEO description. Write {site_name} anywhere in them and the site puts in your Site name.
Do not give a page an address the site already uses, such as blog, search, rss, join, developers, login or account.
Blog posts
The settings of a post:
- Identifier — empty: made from the title.
- Category and Tags (separated with commas; a new tag is made by itself).
- Featured image.
- Publish date — empty: now. A future date keeps the post hidden until then.
- Published.
Per language: Title, URL slug, Excerpt (for cards and search results; empty: the start of the text), Content and the three SEO fields.
The blog lives at /en/blog, twelve posts a page, with categories and a search box. A post (/en/blog/<slug>) shows its category, date, reading time and reader count, the featured image, its tags, share buttons and three Related Posts of the same category. Show latest blog posts on the homepage (Settings → Appearance) puts the newest three on the home page.
Extras in the text of a post:
{site_name},{home}(the home page) and{page:youtube}(the landing page of a platform, by identifier, in the reader's language).- With three or more Heading 2, the post opens with an "In this article" list of them.
- A Heading 3 that ends with a question mark, followed by a paragraph, is given to search engines as a question with its answer (FAQ).
A post that is not written in the reader's language shows the default language text, and search engines are told where the original is.
The reader counter
The page counts its reader a moment after it is really on the screen; search engines and link previews are not counted. Settings → Appearance holds Show how many times a blog post was read, Count my own visits too (signed in as admin) and Count the same reader again after (minutes) (30; 0 counts every opening).
A new installation starts with five categories and twelve example posts in English and Bengali.
Categories and tags
A category has Identifier, Sort order and, per language, Name, URL slug, Description (shown under its heading), SEO title and SEO description. Address: /en/category/<slug>. Deleting a category leaves its posts without one.
Tags are made when you type them on a post. Tags lets you rename them per language. Address: /en/tag/<slug>; search engines are asked not to list tag pages.
The editor
Every content field uses the script's own editor:
- Text style (Paragraph, Heading 2–4, Quote), bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, inline code, highlight, text colour, lists, indent, alignment.
- Link (Ctrl+K), Picture, Video (the address of an MP4 or WebM file), Table, Code block with a language, Note box (blue, green, yellow or red), Button, Dividing line.
- Undo, Redo, Clear formatting, HTML view, Full screen, and a word count.
A click on a picture offers position, width, Description, Caption and Remove; a click in a table adds or removes rows and columns. Pictures are uploaded, dragged in, pasted or taken from the media library (see The admin panel). Scripts and embedded frames are removed when you save a page or a post.
Menus
Content → Menus holds two menus: Main menu (location primary, the header: Home, Blog) and Footer menu (location footer: About, Contact, Privacy policy, Terms of service, DMCA).
Add item:
- Link to — Custom link (
https://…or/contact), Homepage, Blog, Page, Blog post, Category or Platform landing page. - Title and Title in other languages (optional). A custom link and a blog post show Title. A link to the home page, the blog, a page, a category or a platform shows that one's own name in the visitor's language, unless you fill in a title for that language.
- Open in a new tab.
Drag items to reorder them. The arrow buttons nest an item under the one above it, which makes a drop-down in the header; the footer lists the top items only. A link to an unpublished page is hidden.
New menu makes another location, but the shipped themes show only primary and footer, which cannot be deleted.
Sitemap, RSS, robots.txt and search
/sitemap.xml— points tositemap-pages.xml,sitemap-posts.xmlandsitemap-categories.xml, every address with its other languages. Posts are listed only in the languages they are written in.
