What's New gives your site a public "What's new" page that tells visitors what was added, improved and fixed, newest first and grouped by version. You write each entry in the admin panel, in every language of the site. A link in the footer and a slim news bar under the header lead to it. The plugin is free and works with every licence.
Switching it on
A new installation switches it on once; after that you decide with Admin → Plugins → What's New → Enable or Disable. It keeps its entries in two tables, whats_new and whats_new_translations. Its screens are in the admin menu under Plugins: What's new and What's new settings.
The public page
/en/whats-new (and the same in every language of the site) is called What's new, with the introduction "New features, improvements and fixes on your site name, newest first."
Newly supported sites. On the first page, when no filter is chosen, a box of that name with a New badge lists the platforms that carry the New badge right now (see Platforms and modules), the newest first. Each shows its icon and name and opens its landing page; the box says "Paste a link from any of them the usual way."
Filter chips. A row of chips: All with the number of entries, then one chip for each kind that has entries, with its number: New, Improved, Fixed and Notice. A chip shows only that kind; these filtered pages are kept out of search engines.
Version headings. The entries stand on a time line. Entries with the same version and the same date form one group under a heading such as "Version 1.7.0" and the date in the visitor's language ("October 10, 2026"). An entry without a version shows the date alone. Each entry carries its kind as a coloured tag, its title and its details. Entries per page are shown at a time, with Newer, Older and "1 / 3" below.
A visitor reads an entry in their own language. Where it is missing, the default language of the site is used, then English, then any language the entry has.
Writing an entry
Plugins → What's new lists every entry with Entry, Kind, Version, Date, Languages (for example 2 / 10, green when every active language has a title), Published and the actions. The Yes / No button under Published switches an entry on or off; the bin deletes it in every language after you confirm. New entry opens the form:
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Kind | New feature, Improvement, Fix or Notice; the page calls them New, Improved, Fixed and Notice. |
| Version | Optional, for example 1.2.0. Entries with the same version and date are shown together. |
| Date | Today, unless you change it. A date in the future keeps the entry hidden; it appears from the day before (UTC), so it is there on the day in every time zone. |
| Published | Off keeps the entry as a draft. |
Below come tabs, one per active language, the default one marked default. Each has Title ("Say it in one line: what is new?") and Details, written with the script's own editor: text, lists, pictures, links, note boxes, buttons (see Pages, blog and menus). The other languages are optional: "Leave the title empty to show the default language version." A language whose title and details are both empty is removed from the entry. At least one language needs a title, or the panel says "Give the entry a title in at least one language." Press Save the entry.
The news bar
With News bar under the header on, every page shows a slim bar under the header with the newest published entry: its kind as a tag and its title, which leads to the What's new page. The bar is shown for Show the bar for (days), counted from the date of the entry, and never on the What's new page itself.
A visitor closes it with the × button. The browser remembers which entry was closed, so the bar stays away until a newer entry is published.
Link in the footer (on) puts the page into the footer menu, Link in the main menu (off) into the header, both under the title of the page.
Entries that write themselves
New platforms. When you add a platform module yourself, one that names no date of its own (see Platforms and modules), for example by uploading it on Admin → Modules, the page gets an entry of the kind New, without a version, dated today: "New site: Example", with the text "You can now download from Example. Paste a link the usual way." It is written in every active language. Every module added on the same day joins that entry ("New sites: Example, Sample"); the plugin remembers the day's entry in its setting auto_platforms. You can change or delete it like any other entry.
Modules that come with an update of the script are told in that version's own entries instead.
What each version brought. The plugin carries the news of every version of the script in its file seed.php, written for visitors in English and Bengali. An empty page starts with all of it: 21 entries, from 1.0.0 ("The downloader is live") to 1.7.0 ("The site keeps itself up to date"). When an update brings a newer What's New, its table version (SCHEMA) changes, and the next time the plugin's page or screen is opened, the entries of the versions not told yet are added once. The plugin remembers the last version told in its setting told. Entries you changed or deleted stay as you left them. Visitors in other languages read them in your default language or in English until you add theirs.

Tips
- Write for visitors, not for developers: say what they can do now.
- Use Fix when a platform works again, and Notice for news that is not a change, such as planned maintenance.
- Prepare an entry ahead with a future date: it appears by itself, and the bar with it.
- Watch the Languages column: an entry with 1 / 10 shows one text to everybody.
- The words around the entries, such as "Version :version", the month names and the date order (
wn_date_format), are in the plugin'slanguages/en.php; change them with New translation on Settings → Translations (see Languages and translations).
