Getting started

Installation

On this page

Installing takes about ten minutes. You upload the files, create an empty database, and a two-step installer does the rest.

1. Upload the files

  1. Sign in on license.faruk.bd, open My licences and press Download beside your Hearing Center Business Suite licence.
  2. In cPanel open File Manager, go to public_html (or the folder of your sub-domain) and upload the ZIP.
  3. Right-click it and choose Extract. Check that index.php, install.php, admin/, plugins/ and the hidden .htaccess file are directly inside the folder, not inside a second folder with the ZIP's name.
  4. Delete the ZIP.

To install in a sub-folder, extract into that folder, for example public_html/clinic. Nothing else changes: the .htaccess file is written to work at a domain root and in a sub-folder alike.

2. Create the database

In cPanel → MySQL Databases:

  1. Create a database, for example shrabon_hcbs.
  2. Create a user with a strong password.
  3. Add the user to the database with All Privileges.

Write the three names down; cPanel puts your account name in front of both (cpaneluser_shrabon_hcbs).

3. Run the installer

Open https://your-domain/install.php.

Step 1 — Requirements

The installer lists what your server has: PHP version, the PDO MySQL driver, mbstring, json, cURL, ZipArchive, and whether the script's folder and uploads/ can be written to. Required items must be green before you can continue; cURL and ZipArchive are optional but recommended (see What you need).

Step 2 — Configuration

BoxWhat to put
Database hostAlmost always localhost.
Port3306 unless your host says otherwise.
Database name, Database user, Database passwordThe three values from cPanel.
Site nameThe name of your centre as patients should see it, e.g. Shrabon Hearing Care.
Company nameThe legal name printed on invoices. Left empty, the site name is used.
Site URLFilled in for you; correct it if it is wrong (with https://, without a slash at the end).
License server URLLeave it as it is: https://license.faruk.bd.
Full name, E-mail, PasswordThe first administrator. The password needs at least 6 characters; use a long one.

Press install. The installer then:

  • creates every table from database/schema.sql and database/cms.sql;
  • creates the five roles — Super Admin, Administrator, Manager, Staff and Dealer — and makes you the Super Admin;
  • writes the starting settings, a cron key, and a starting logo and icon (replace them under Theme);
  • registers every addon that ships in plugins/. Free addons start switched on; premium addons wait until your licence includes them;
  • writes config.php (database details and a secret key) and installed.lock, which stops the installer from running a second time;
  • puts the protective .htaccess inside uploads/.

4. The three steps after installing

The last screen of the installer says Installation complete and gives you three steps, in English and Bengali:

  1. Secure the installation — delete install.php from the server now. Anyone who reached it could otherwise point your site at a different database.
  2. Create your license account — on the License Center. Your licence key, renewals, premium addons and support tickets all live there.
  3. Activate this domain — sign in, open License, paste your key and press Activate. Until then the admin panel stays locked; the public website already works.

Details are in The licence key.

5. Add the cron job

In cPanel → Cron Jobs, add a job every five minutes:

*/5 * * * * /usr/local/bin/php -q /home/CPANELUSER/public_html/api/cron.php >/dev/null 2>&1

Run this way it needs no key. Everything it does is in Scheduled jobs.

6. Clean addresses

Out of the box the public site uses clean addresses such as /services, /hearing-aids, /book and /blog/.... They need Apache mod_rewrite (or LiteSpeed) and the .htaccess file that ships with the script. If those addresses show 404 Not Found on your host, open Website → Website Settings, untick Clean web addresses and save: the site goes back to .php addresses and nothing else changes. The Test clean addresses button on the same screen checks it for you.

7. First things to do

Sign in at https://your-domain/admin/ and follow The admin panel and first steps. In short: your logo and colours under Theme, your address and phone under Website Settings and Settings, e-mail under E-mail Setup, your staff under Users, then the addons you need under Addons.

Moving or re-installing

  • To move to a new domain, press Release this domain on the License page first, copy the files and the database, change the address in config.php (HCS_URL) and activate the key on the new domain.
  • To install again from scratch, empty the database and delete config.php and installed.lock; then install.php runs once more.
